Top 100 USWNT Goalkeeper Pool

In conjunction with the USMNT depth chart, the we’re now expanding the USWNT Goalkeeper Pool posts to include 100 American goalkeepers! Each goalkeeper is slotted by a number of factors: historical individual results, current individual level of play, and projected on-field performance. The top 100 attempts to remove exterior noise and team statistics to isolate the goalkeeper’s true ability. The blocks of twenty names feature a brief paragraph on players to watch, giving a small bio about certain goalkeepers and what to look out for in the coming months.

With so much rapid player movement, please comment below if you spot any errors. To see how the top 100 rankings have evolved since March 2015, click here.

18. Jalen Tompkins, 27 - Valerenga (Norway.1)
19. Jordyn Bloomer, 26 - Racing Louisville
20. Adrianna Franch, 33 - Kansas City Current

Ones to watch: The post-Alyssa Naeher era continues to get pushed back with only more and more goalkeepers looking to make their case for the number one spot. Leading candidates are Olympic alternative Jane Campbell and up-and-comer Mandy Haught, both of which have played well in early NWSL action this year. We could also see the return of European-based goalkeepers in Murphy, Talbert, and even Tullis-Joyce, who may have some more competition this fall. As NWSL expands and the new USL Super League starts up, more goalkeepers will get more opportunities to showcase why they deserve the coveted number one jersey.

21. Kelsey Daugherty, 27 - Celtic (Scotland.1)
22. Shae Yanez, 27 - Bristol City (England.2)
23. Aubrei Corder, 26 - Bodø / Glimt (Norway.1)
24. Abbie Faingold, 27 - California Storm

31. Makenna Gottschalk, 25 - Fort Lauderdale FC
32. Jordan Silkowitz, 24 - Kansas City Current
33. Angelina Anderson, 23 - Angel City FC
34. Katherine Asman, 24 - Portland Thorns FC
35. Savanna Mason, 25 - BYU
36. Melissa Lowder, 27 - Bay FC Trialist
37. McKinley Crone, 25 - Orlando Pride
38. Lindsey Harris, 30 - Al-Qadisiah (Saudi Arabia.1)
39. Mackenzie Wood, 23 - Chicago Red Stars
40. Hensley Hancuff, 23 - North Carolina Courage

Ones to watch: The second tier features mostly goalkeepers who are either stuck on the bench or ones that have some potential but it remains to be seen where they’re trending. Goalkeepers like Skiba, Anderson, and Wood have had flashes of bright, bright moments but none have nailed down a starting spot to continue to display their talents. Other goalkeepers like Daugherty, Seppi, and Gottschalk have all played well overseas but at lower levels. Can they make a jump to a more competitive side or have they hit their ceiling already? Time will tell.

41. Cosette Morche, 27 - Fort Lauderdale FC
42. Macy Enneking, 23 - University of Iowa
43. Izzy Nino, 24 - Zephyr FC
44. Lauren Brzykcy, 24 - Vittsjo GIK (Sweden.1)

50. Olivia Sekany, 25 - Racing Louisville

51. Marisa Bova, 23 - North Carolina Courage
52. Cat Sheppard, 23 - Clube de Albergaria (Portugal.1)
53. Madison White, 23 - Racing Louisville
54. Kenna Caldwell, 23 - Orlando Pride Trailist
55. Katie Fraine, 36 - Hibernian (Scotland.1)
56. Lauren Kozal, 23 - Portland Thorns FC
57. Liz Harrington, 25 - Peninsula Power (Australia.2)
58. Meagan McClelland, 23 - Carolina Ascent
59. Hope Hisey, 24 - Kansas City Current
60. Jenna Moran, 23 - Charleston Southern

Ones to watch: Australia has been kind to American goalkeepers these past few years so don’t be surprised if Hinz, Mackiewicz, Bova, or White head down under for much needed game minutes. Collegiate goalkeepers Enneking, Josephson, and Moran look to finish their college run on a high note but with the USL Super League starting up, they may not need to get drafted to the NWSL next January. How the Super League will handle young goalkeepers remains to be seen. The new league has bragged about not having a draft and, instead, allowing more freedom to players to choose their franchises to join. Will this be more favorable for young goalkeepers?

61. Alex Godinez, 30 - Monterrey (Mexico.1)
62. Adelaide Gay, 34 - DC Power FC
63. Madeline Smith, 23 - California Storm
64. Erin McKinney, 24 - Houston Dash

68. Lyza Bosselmann, 22 - Washington Spirit
69. Stephanie Sparkowski, 22 - University of Michigan
70. Emmie Allen, 21 - Bay FC Trialist

71. Leah Freeman, 22 - Duke
72. Kaylin Williams, 27 - Vllaznia (Albania.1)
73. Megan Plaschko, 22 - TCU
74. Ryan Campbell, 22 - UCLA
75. Ashley Naylor, 22 - UC Irvine
76. Taylor Burgess, 23 - Massachusetts-Lowell
77. Maia Perez, 24 - Seattle Reign
78. Jessica Berlin, 25 - Galway WFC (Ireland.1)
79. Elaina LaMacchia, 24 - Frame FC (Iceland.2)
80. Hailey Coll, 23 - Zephyr FC

Ones to watch: The college scene is once again impacted by the transfer portal with the high-profile names of Plaschko, Campbell, and Naylor looking to finish their collegiate career in a new home (not to mention Leah Freeman leaving Oregon for Duke last year). With such a shakeup, a single and final year can significantly impact their opportunities moving forward, depending on if professional teams come knocking or if they must start their NARP career. Keep an eye on USL hopefuls Adelaide Gay and Hailey Coll. Both goalkeepers have been counted out for lack of height yet pack a strong punch to prove doubters wrong.

81. Olivia Pratapas, 22 - NC State
82. Kayla Thompson, 25 - Toluca (Mexico.1)
83. Elizabeth Beardsley, 21 - University of Maryland
84. Morgan Messner, 24 - San Diego Wave Trialist
85. Ashton Blair, 22 - East Tennessee State
86. Madison Less, 26 - Karagumruk (Turkey.1)

89. Genevieve Crenshaw, 22 - Boise State
90. Nadia Cooper, 21 - Washington State

91. Lauren Kellett, 22 - Tampa Bay Sun FC
92. Mia Justus, 21 - University of Texas
93. Alia Skinner, 22 - BP (Sweden.1)
94. Caroline DeLisle, 24 - San Diego Wave Trialist
95. Samantha Estrada, 24 - Dallas Trinity
96. Keara Fitzgerald, 21 - Washington State
97. Anna Buhigas, 29 - Pomigliano (Italy.2)
98. Tyler McCamey, 21 - Princeton
99. Sami Hauk, 22 - University of Nebraska
100. Maddie Prohaska, 22 - Auburn

Ones to watch: Largely filled with goalkeepers off the beaten path, this last group contains a notable amount of potential that could easily snowball into an established professional career. Collegiate goalkeepers such as Blair, Day, and Graham may be outside of the “Power 5 conferences” yet many schools would take such a talented goalkeeper in a heartbeat. Can they showcase their talents to garner the right attention to continue after college, such as Kellett (TCU to Tampa Bay) and Estrada (SMU to Dallas Trinity)? Will the USL be a more friendly league for 22-24 year old goalkeepers or will they follow suit with the NWSL and look to bench young goalkeepers in favor of older talent?
